bring.BUDDY: citizens help DHL deliver packages

How does this affect trust in DHL?

Amplify’d from springwise.com

Created last year for DHL by a team of students at the HPI School of Design Thinking at Germany’s University of Potsdam, bring.BUDDY taps all the consumers moving through a city each day, whether via bike, public transport or on foot. Interested participants indicate their travel route for the day using a downloadable smartphone app; a text message then lets them know of any packages needing delivery along the way. When there is such a package, the participant picks it up from the local kiosk where it’s waiting and delivers it as they go about their daily business. In exchange for their help, the program rewards them with points that can be redeemed for free train tickets, merchandise coupons or CO2 credits. A .pdf brochure and a video on YouTube both explain bring.BUDDY in more detail.

Finding the perfect eBook Reader App for iPad (via @baekdal)

The iBook app takes quite a beating.

Amplify’d from feed.baekdal.com

The ebook market has just started, but already accounts for 9% of the total. The apps are good, but not perfect. What I really want is:

  • The openness of Stanza, allowing me to take any book, from any source, and read it on whatever reader I decide to use.
  • The buying experience of the iBook store, which is far superior to anything else out there.
  • The cloud based synching, auto-download, and availability of the Kindle, so that I no longer have to sync or redownload books on my other devices.
  • The availability of eReader, which offers more books that matches my taste in fiction (note: Amazon have the biggest selection overall, but lacks the niche content)
  • The readability and interface of Kobo, which are just more pleasing to the eye.
