Hier geloof ik in: De echte waarde van bitcoin en crypto-currency technologie

Wie mij volgt, weet dat ik al langer enthousiast ben over Bitcoin en bitcoin (het verschil is: de technologie en de munt). Maar het was wel moeilijk om het goed uit te leggen. Dit voorjaar nam Patrick Loonstra het initiatief om daar verandering in te brengen. Als snel zaten we met Rutger van Zuidam (de ongekroonde Bitcoin-koning van Nederland) en Patrick aan het script te werken. Voor de realisatie was echter nog wel wat hulp nodig, die gelukkig door Sebas van den Brink geboden werd. Onderweg hebben we veel hulp gehad, op allerlei vlak. Ik ben vooral ook heel dankbaar voor de tijd en energie die Janine Abbring en Melissa Oudshoorn-Fuller in de voice–overs hebben gestoken!

Enne: wat nu? Dit verhaal moet verder uitgedragen worden. Mijn mailbox loopt nu al vol met mensen die naar aanleiding van dit filmpje willen nadenken over toepassingen voor crowdfunding, goede doelen-acties, maar ook toepassingen in de HRM. Ik denk graag mee, en klim graag op het podium om erover te vertellen, geflankeerd door econoom Ronald Mulder. En als ik niet kan, is Rutger van Zuidam vast beschikbaar.

Mark Hoekstra Pecha Kucha Award

One year ago, Mark Hoekstra passed away unexpectedly. Mark was member Nieuwe Garde-lid, Bright-blogger and most famous for Geektechnique.org. Mark also brought Pecha Kucha tot Groningen, and was very close with the founders of Pecha Kucha. Yesterday, the lovely people of Pecha Kucha released this:

MARK HOEKSTRA PECHAKUCHA AWARD

Mark liked to ‘get his geek on’ and his blog GEEKtechnique.org showed the world how to get it’s collective geek on. Whether a iPod charger for his bicycle, a love-toy made from hacked Ikea products or his iNoPhone collection – Mark inspired many with his amazing creativity which he so generously shared. PechaKucha Night met Mark, as you would, expect online and shortly after PechaKucha Night Groningen was born with the first event held in October 2006. PechaKucha Nights were held all over the city in old churches, department stores – Mark and PechaKucha even made onto national TV. Sadly and very unexpectedly Mark passed away on the 20 September 2008. He was 34.

To celebrate Mark’s life and his passion for the GEEK in us all the PechaKucha Foundation and the PechaKucha Groningen team are launching the ‘Mark Hoekstra PechaKucha Award’ annual award today, one year after he passed away, to find the person with the most GEEK technique! This award seeks to celebrate projects, ideas that express ‘GEEK technique’ to make the world a better, simpler and funnier place. We will be looking for PechaKucha presentations that are pro-social, pro-environment and pro-city and embody Mark’s love for the geek. Videoreport: Pecha Kucha Nights XI in de Suikerfabriek

Last April 21st, the eleventh edition of Pecha Kucha Nights Groningen took place, in the abandoned Sugar Factory of Groningen. Regional station OOG TV sent a crew that reported the Pecha Kucha Night on OOG TV. Cameraman Kim Chae Young de Vink also made his own edit of the material he filmed.
